We’re all born into stories not of our own choosing. Family legacies, expectations, and traditions handed down like invisible chains. Today, more than ever, it seems like the world we live in traps us with powers and machinations beyond our control.

Ascension is my exploration of what happens when someone refuses to be bound by the blood they inherited — when they decide the past doesn’t have to dictate the future. And how they can rise against the powers that strive to hold them down.

In this story, El faces the crushing weight of his lineage, a path seemingly preordained by others long gone. But instead of surrendering to fate, he fights. Not simply to survive, but to ascend beyond what anyone thought was possible.

For me, this is a deeply personal theme. We all carry ghosts, whether that’s from societal pressure to conform, the families we grew up in, or the weight of "what if". The question I wanted to ask with this book is: Can you break free? Can you take the inheritance you never wanted and turn it into your own power?

Cleansing the Bloodline isn't about forgetting where you came from or trying to erase it. It's about learning from the mistakes of our predecessors — and refusing to be owned by them. It's a story about leaving the well-beaten path and forging your own path. It's about becoming the person you are meant to be, despite the risks.
