SID's Journeys: The Remnant - Part 2

The planet of Kaasiar is all but a recent memory. Completely decimated by a Black Palace bioweapon known as The Accursed. All was thought to be lost until a remnant of the planet was discovered; it was codenamed K-GV. I am a Scouting Intelligence Drone, but I like to go by SID for short. My mission is to explore K-GV and confirm the existence of a defunct Allegiance base. I just landed on the plant's remains, scanners are activated, and I'm ready to move.
I was briefed that if the base were intact, it would be deep underground, not visible at the surface. My scanners were modulated to search deep through the surface, able to look through the hardest of the elements. As I searched, the area was quiet. This location was once a valley filled with lush flora and fauna, but now all I see is barren space rock. With no atmosphere, the sky was gone, just the depths of dark space, slightly illuminated by the nearest sun. The concept of death was perplexing to me, but now, being on this husk of a planet, I understand all that remains here is death.
My scanners continued to search through the depths of K-GV. Nothing has pinged yet. The entire area is small, but I still have a lot of ground to cover. In my line of sight, I noticed something. As I continued to move, the object grew larger and took shape. It looks like a type of hut. Getting closer, I see that half of it is collapsed; it’s amazing that anything is still standing at all! Looking through the collapsed wall, I can catch a glimpse inside. Someone once lived here and created memories, all now gone in an instant. I could explore the ruined hut, maybe find Kassiarian items that don’t exist anymore, and anything to preserve and study their culture. But that’s not why I’m here. All I can do is keep a saved record of what I saw. Maybe another scouting mission will discover more someday.
I was nearing the western edge of K-GV. Scanners searched through the edge and found nothing. I decided to make a hard left and search the northern area. Based on the readings, there’s nothing so far, just space rock. I’ve also noticed the density levels from the underground scans are dropping. This can only mean the K-GV rock is breaking apart, slowly. If it doesn’t stop, eventually, there will be nothing at all.
An alert ping sprang onto my readings. Surrounded by nothingness, the alert nearly spooked me by how sudden it appeared. I didn't even know I could feel a shock like that. The alert was still sounding; something had been found. Off the northern plane, a mass was found and made of a material completely different from the K-GV space rock. This had to be the bunker, and I was pretty close by. My mission was not for nothing; I quickly moved toward my target. Another alert rang through my readers. This was different, though; it wasn't from my ground scanners. It was my orbital signal, which has been monitoring the areas above me. Something was heading right for K-GV and fast. Was I detected? The signal showed that whatever was coming was nearly right on me. I look up.....asteroids hurdling all around. Before I could move to escape, the ground started to split and roar... too late.
