The War of the Worlds reshaped interstellar politics and marked the beginning of imperial warfare on a cosmic scale. The brutal conflict established the Itarian Empire as the dominant force in the known universe, setting a precedent for planetary conquest that would echo through the ages.
From Itarus to Aoweii
After dismantling the kingdoms of Itarus and forming the empire, Vorza set his eyes on the stars. By 444,468 DTLS C5, the Scribes of Noplia had developed the first functional spacecrafts capable of long-distance interstellar travel. With this monumental achievement, Vorza's vision of a cosmic empire became a reality. His armies, once confined to the continents of Itarus, were now outfitted for the void, supported by warships and piloted by elite crews indoctrinated in imperial ideology. The first target of this new era was Fargulk—a planet ruled by fractured tribal warlords. The Fargulkians, despite their brute strength, were conquered within a year. Their subjugation was swift and merciless, their leaders publicly executed, and their artifacts shipped back to Itarus as symbols of dominance.
Vorza, now hailed as "The Dragon That Walks Between Worlds," became obsessed with expansion. The ease of the Fargulkian conquest only fed his ambition. He declared that no star would remain untouched by the shadow of the Itarian Empire. His attention soon turned to Aoweii, a lush world of elven nations. It was not just a target of strategic value, but of symbolic significance. The Aoweiinians were known for their longevity and harmony with their environment—everything that stood in contrast to the ruthless industrialism of Itarus. Vorza believed that if he could break Aoweii, he could break any world.

The War of the Worlds
Preparations for the invasion of Aoweii began immediately. Itarian engineers terraformed the moons of Aoweii into staging grounds, and new classes of warships were rolled out under the supervision of the Scribes of Noplia. Aoweii's defenders, however, were not unaware. Through ancient divination rites and celestial observations, the Twelve Clans foresaw the coming darkness. While Vorza marshaled his legions, the Clans began uniting under Faragan—a rare feat for a world known for its internal divisions. By 444,469, the Itarians invaded.
In 444,470, the Aoweiinians achieved a surprise attack on an Itarian garrison. Itarian forces were using the southern region of Aoweii primarily as a rest area for the Itarians cosmic dragons. The Aoweiinians also took advantage of knowing their planet better. For the next eight years, Aoweii was turned into a planetary battlefield. The war saw the use of cosmic dragons, solar-honed weaponry, and atmosphere-ripping orbital bombardments, technologies that had never before been tested in such a concentrated campaign. Both sides suffered immense losses, with entire regions of Aoweii rendered uninhabitable for centuries.

In the 444,477 DTLS C5, the war turned in favor of the Itarians. Aoweiinian leaders under Faragan were promised land, spoils, and favor with the empire if they betrayed the elven leader. Once Faragan was in shackles, Vorza ordered the traitors to be executed as well. Despite their eventual defeat, the Aoweiinians' resistance became legendary. The Twelve Clans coordinated guerrilla tactics and terrain-based ambushes that frustrated Itarian supply lines and morale. Faragan became a martyr after his betrayal and capture. Even in defeat, his legacy would go on to inspire future rebellions across other conquered planets. Cultural memory of the Eight Years of Blood remains a cornerstone of Aoweiinian identity, passed down through song, carvings, and hidden archives that survived the purges following the occupation.
Legacy
In the years following the war, Vorza solidified his rule not just through conquest but through psychological domination. Schools were rebuilt to teach Itarian values, local languages were outlawed, and temples were converted into imperial fortresses. The conquest of Aoweii became a model for future Itarian expansions, and Vorza was immortalized as a god-emperor by his followers. The War of the Worlds did not just end in fire and betrayal—it planted seeds of resistance that would grow quietly in the shadows of empire.
For the next 400,000 years, the Itarians ruled over Aoweii with an iron grip, crushing uprisings, rewriting history, and reshaping the planet in their image—until their dominion was finally shattered in the cataclysmic Battle of the Rebels.
