Son of Kaasiar's Ex-Prime Minister Arrested in BPU Laundering Scheme

The arrest of Ominan Lanlire, son of ex-Kaasian Prime Minister Omi Lanlire, comes at no surprise.

Ominan Lanlire, 32, was arrested last week by Black Palace Occupying Forces after he tried to sneak his way into Scav. Black Palace authorities had issued an arrest warrant for Lanlire weeks prior, saying that his business influence was directly connected to Allegiance activity in the Mehdias JX7 System.

Ominan Lanlire is the son of ex-Prime Minster Omi Lanlire. PM Lanlire was ousted from his position on Kaasiar in 800,028, shortly after the Black Palace's reconquest of the planet. The ex-Prime Minister and his family fled to Catovaz, where they were granted political asylum by The All Father. Ominan grew up in the shadow of exile, pursuing many failed careers before opening up his own export business. After the death of his father, Ominan took his business off-world, introducing his products to citizens of neighboring planets.

With newfound success and a growing enterprise, the Lanlire family rose from the status of has-beens to well-known business moguls. It wasn't until Corrin's split from the Black Palace that Ominan's sight was set elsewhere. Black Palace authorities were notified of large shipments of Gorkonian metal being rerouted to known-Allegiance depots. Investigators within the Black Palace were able to track down the departure of the ships and uncovered that Ominan Lanlire owned several of the docking stations. An arrest warrant across the Mehdias JX7 System was immediately issued, with citizens of each planet notified to alert Black Palace authorities if they had any knowledge of Ominan's whereabouts.

Ominan's assets and business holdings were confiscated in the aftermath of the discovery, with further investigation revealing that millions of BPU's were wired to an undisclosed account. While Black Palace Occupying Forces hunted Ominan, investigators also discovered that Lanlire had been using funds from his businesses to provide a safe passageway to Black Palace dissidents. Further investigation revealed that millions of BPU's being transferred between high-ranking Allegiance commanders were laundered through Ominan's accounts, in order to go undetected.

Black Palace Occupying Forces were tipped off by an anonymous source that Ominan Lanlire was heading to Scav, where authorities apprehended him. He was arrested on four counts of treason, BPU laundering, and for being affiliated with a now designated terrorist group 'The Allegiance.' Surface Chronicler reporters were on the scene of Ominan's arrest. He gave no comment. Members of the Lanlire family have kept the matter quiet, with sources inside the family saying 'The Lanlire family is troubled by Ominan's individual activities." Many speculate Ominan Lanlire acted alone, with others insinuating that others within the family might be involved.

With the ongoing war, no trial date has been set for Ominan. He is being transferred to The MAW to await his hearing.
